The MC20 Cielo, where ‘MC’ stands for Maserati Corse (Racing), ’20’ refers to the year 2020 that marked the brand’s new era, and ‘Cielo’ (Sky) signifies a model designed to deliver unparalleled driving pleasure while embracing the open sky, all while maintaining the essence of the coupé.
This unique spyder is equipped with the revolutionary V6 Nettuno engine, offering a perfect blend of sportiness and luxury, distinguished by an innovative retractable glass roof. The MC20 Cielo is a meeting point between Maserati’s audacity and the boundless sky, creating a distinctive “sky feeling.”
The model features an advanced electrochromic (smart glass) window that can instantly transform from clear to opaque with a touch of a button, thanks to Advanced Polymer-Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) technology. Furthermore, the roof sets a benchmark in terms of thermal insulation and opens or closes in just 12 seconds.
Thanks to this pinnacle of technology, the MC20 Cielo provides a multi-sensory driving experience. The roof offers an all-encompassing experience when closed and opaque, a unique in-cabin brightness when transparent, and an all-encompassing experience with the top down.
Developed at the Maserati Innovation Lab and crafted at the historic plant on Viale Ciro Menotti, the MC20 Cielo is 100% made in Italy and 100% made in Modena, just like its coupé counterpart.
Notably, the MC20 Cielo maintains an exceptional weight-to-power ratio, with a mere 65 kg increase in weight compared to the coupé. This is achieved through meticulous design work, ensuring that the carbon fiber chassis, shared across all configurations (coupé, spyder, and future electric version), maintains uncompromising torsional rigidity, offering extraordinary handling on the road and track.
With a sleek and highly sporty design, the MC20 Cielo’s character and personality are truly captivating, characterized by the purity of its forms and 360° aerodynamic testing in a wind tunnel, whether the roof is open or closed.
In addition to its remarkable features, the MC20 Cielo introduces a wide range of Active Safety Systems. This includes parking sensors, a rear-view camera, blind spot monitoring (introduced in the MY22 MC20), as well as autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign information, and a new 360° camera.
The MC20 Cielo can be equipped with an optional High Premium Sonus Faber audio system, specifically optimized for the spyder’s cabin. This system positions 12 speakers to deliver the Natural Sound that distinguishes Sonus Faber audio systems.
The in-car experience is managed through the Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) Multimedia system and Maserati Connect.
