Perodua Reports Strong 3Q23 Sales with a 28.3% Surge, YTD Registrations Exceed 230,000

Rawang, October 27, 2023 – Perodua, the leading compact car manufacturer, has reported an impressive 28.3% increase in sales for the third quarter of 2023, with 88,537 units sold, compared to 69,011 units in the same quarter of 2022. This remarkable increase in registrations is attributed to improvements in production operational efficiency, with a total of 91,528 units manufactured, marking a significant 21.7% increase compared to the same quarter in 2022.

Perodua’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad, expressed, “The third quarter of 2023 marks the beginning of our efforts to increase our monthly production to over 30,000 units as supplies of raw materials and parts can now meet the rising demand.”

For the year-to-date (YTD) figures, Perodua has produced a total of 245,341 units as of September 2023, reflecting an impressive 18.6% increase from 206,837 units in the same period of the previous year. Dato’ Sri Zainal emphasized, “This increase in production showcases the potential of the Malaysian automotive ecosystem as they enhance economies of scale without compromising quality and cost efficiency.”

Dato’ Sri Zainal further expressed optimism for Perodua’s production and sales outlook in the fourth quarter of 2023, stating, “We are committed to reducing our customers’ waiting period, and we believe that from January 2024 onwards, waiting times will be better managed.”

Perodua’s year-to-date (YTD) registrations have reached 233,227 units in the first nine months of 2023, compared to 196,354 units sold in the same period the previous year. The Perodua Bezza leads in registrations over this period, followed by the Perodua Axia and the Perodua Myvi.

Dato’ Sri Zainal emphasized the positive impact of these developments, stating, “This positive trend has enabled Perodua to further enhance our production capacity and expedite car deliveries to our valued customers. We are also on track to achieve our registration target of 314,000 units for this year.”

In terms of month-on-month comparisons, Perodua registered 28,995 units in September 2023, marking a 17.7% increase from the 24,626 units registered in September 2022. In the realm of production, Perodua manufactured 31,447 cars in September 2023, indicating an 8.2% increase from 29,077 units produced in September 2022.
