Time flies when you’re busy meeting deadlines and in what seems like a blink of an eye, we’re only a week and a half away from celebrating Hari Raya Aidil Fitri. I’ve been in Malaysia for less than 2-years but I do know what the onset of this religious festival means; people leaving city centres in droves to head back to their hometowns.

I’ve never been one to subscribe to the notion of showing the relatives how well I’m doing, but if proving you’re doing well to the extended family matters then nothing says ‘I’ve hit the big time’ better than a shiny new car. In which case, you’ve come to the right place.

I keep saying this but the fact remains Motor Trader lists thousands of new cars each week and in here somewhere is the car of your dreams. Why buy new when for the same price, you can get a used flash motor to really impress family and friends back home? In fact, if you’re willing to do the legwork, something big, brash and probably German would be available for the same amount of money as a brand new economy tin-box.

Of course, if you would much rather save some money, then you should invest in making sure the car you own is in good working order. We’ve been running a servicing guide for a few weeks now and you would do well to take a look at some of our tips inside. It could save you a bundle in potential repair bills and should ensure your ‘Balik Kampung’ journey this year is a safe trip for everyone.
