Since its launch in Malaysia in April last year, the Volkswagen Tiguan has caught the attention of SUV-lovers and demand has been high. In fact, right after the launch, the orders came rushing in and the waiting period became longer. To address this, output from the plant in Pahang was revised to roll out more units during 2017.

With more and more units appearing on the roads around the country, perhaps there will be some buyers who feel that it is becoming ‘common’. For those with such a thought, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) now offers a ‘WILD’ accessory package for the Tiguan Comfortline.

This package, priced at RM5,099, consists of aluminium sports pedals, chrome garnish for the rear door, chrome protector for the sill of the rear cargo area, chrome exhaust trim, scuff plates with the Tiguan logo, plus VW-approved tinted window film.

Commenting on the availability of the new package, Erik Winter, Managing Director of VPCM, said that the introduction of the ‘WILD’ package provides Tiguan customers with an option of having their Tiguan stand apart from the others.

“We are constantly looking for new ways to enhance our products and offer stylish options for our customers. Having these enhancements on the Tiguan will definitely complement the SUV’s design and defined contours,” he said.

The latest generation of the Tiguan, assembled in Malaysia, has a 1.4-litre turbocharged direct injection TSI petrol engine with a 6-speed wet-clutch direct shift automatic transmission (DSG). Turbocharging boosts the output to as high as 150 ps, with the maximum of 250 Nm of torque generated from 1500 rpm and available up to 3500 rpm.

The Tiguan Comfortline is priced from RM148,990 (excluding the ‘WILD’ package) and as with all Volkswagen models sold by authorised dealerships since the beginning of 2018, there’s a free 3-year maintenance programme (or maximum of 45,000 kms) along with a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty and 5-year roadside assistance.
