Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) today kicked off its 3-day Volkswagen Fest with the introduction of the ‘JOIN’ range of special edition models offering extras with the Polo, Vento Comfortline and Highline, Tiguan Highline and Passat Comfortline. Simultaneous with the introduction, 25 units of JOIN models were offered online through the Lazada site.

The ‘JOIN’ editions come with an accessory package that includes (depending on the model) side scuff plates, rear spoiler, bootlid garnish, VW Tint, and other exclusive items worth up to RM12,000.

Introducing the JOIN models, Erik Winter, Managing Director of VPCM said that the range further reaffirms Volkswagen’s commitment to provide a wide variety of products to the Malaysian public. “Whilst our core models are popular on their own, we believe customers are also looking out for an extra touch of exclusivity on their cars. The introduction of the ‘JOIN’ range, and other special edition models is something we are actively doing in our bid to offer to our customers these options with value-added benefits,” he said.

The sale of the 25 cars through Lazada is the second collaboration between the two companies. Last year, VPC, offered 11 units of special Beetles via the same site and all of them were sold within 20 minutes! This time round, 5 of the 25 units available were booked within the first 45 minutes of appearing online.

By now, more units may already have been taken up as the special deal for these 25 units is that the customers need only pay the retail price of the car and they receive the ‘JOIN’ package for free. The remaining units will be available until October 30, 2018 although it is likely that all will be taken before that date.

“We were delighted to have pushed boundaries and make history with our collaboration with Lazada last December. The response – all 12 cars sold within 20 minutes – proved that customers, while more discerning than ever, are receptive towards buying even big-tickets items online,” said Mr. Winter.

If you miss the opportunity to book on through Lazada, Mr. Winter said that there will still be additional units at dealerships but you won’t get the accessories for free.

All JOIN models are also offered with VPCM’s Price Protection Scheme (PPS) that maintains prices as they were in June, July and August when GST was not charged. This scheme is available for new vehicles purchase and registered before the last day of November 2018 (while stocks last).

Also introduced today by VPCM is the Volkswagen Cares customer loyalty program. This aftersales-led initiative uses a new platform for the brand to engage with its customers and continuously improve the ownership experience. Interaction is through the Volkswagen Cares mobile application (shown above) which is available for iOS and Android devices.

The mobile app comes with a list of features related to both sales and aftersales, and this includes service offers, owner rewards, educational videos, tips, event updates and 24-hour roadside assistance.

The second edition of the Volkswagen Fest is held at the same venue as last year, ie the park adjacent to the Setia City Convention Centre in Setia Alam, Selangor. From today until Sunday (October 14), visitors have the opportunity to test drive a variety of Volkswagen models and enjoy rebates and special deals on new and pre-owned units.

There are also petrol vouchers worth RM3,000 given with selected pre-owned units and on ‘Starbuys’ such as the Vento (from as low as RM55,888) and the Golf GTI (from as low as RM188,888).

Existing Volkswagen owners can send their vehicle a free vehicle check by trained technicians at an aftersales booth. VPCM is also offering a special aftersales membership for the first 200 owners with cars that are 4 years and older.

Some of the classic Volkswagen models on display at the event.

Volkswagen has been making cars since the 1930s and some of the models sold over the many decades have become classics and collectors items. Those who own them maintain them and on occasions such as this Volkswagen Fest, they are happy to show off their cars to the public.
