The Hyundai IONIQ for the Malaysian market is now available with an upgraded infotainment system. Built around the Android operating system, this new system gains expanded capabilities that use apps which the driver will be familiar with. The extra-cost AVN system also supports standalone applications and does not get disrupted by incoming calls.
The new Audio Visual Navigation (AVN) system, which includes upgraded 8-inch touchscreen, is MP3-compatible and can also use the Spotify app. Its built-in Bluetooth wireless communication and phonebook transfer as well as My Hyundai app enables the owner to place a service booking or contact the 24-hours road assist service. Navigation apps with Waze and Google Maps are pre-installed while the Clock and Weather widgets can be updated via wifi.
While the Android system is adopted, those with iPhones that use the iOS platform can also interface with the AVN system. It comes with a warranty of 3 years or 100,000 kms (whichever occurs first).
The AVN system adds another RM2,400 to the price of an IONIQ HEV Plus, making it RM116,488 (excluding insurance premium). The base IONIQ is priced at RM100,388 (without insurance). Those who already own an IONIQ can upgrade their infotainment system by paying the extra cost after trading in their existing head unit.
All variants have a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 105 ps/147 Nm 1.6-litre Kappa petrol engine and a 32 kW (43.5 ps) electric motor which gets energy from a slim lithium-ion polymer battery pack.
