TCIE Vietnam Pte. Ltd. (TCIEV), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Tan Chong Group, recently opened its twelfth Nissan dealership in Vietnam. The new dealership in Hanoi, owned by Hung Thuan Thanh Joint Stock Company, is expected to make a significant contribution in enhancing Nissan’s presence in Northern Vietnam which accounts for 42% of the country’s motor vehicle sales.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Senior Regional Director of Tan Chong Group, Dato’ Dr. Ang Bon Beng said, “The appointment of Nissan Giai Phong will further enhance the overall Nissan experience for customers in Northern Vietnam. With a total land area of 3,100 square meters and an investment capital of US$3 million, Nissan Giai Phong is equipped with 27 working bays and 3 paint shops with 80 staff members to deliver superior customer service to Nissan customers in Hanoi.”

Dato’ Dr. Ang added that the dealership offers the full range of services at one location for the convenience of customers. The showroom also has a play area for children who accompany their parents to view the latest Nissan models.

Also launched into the Vietnam market during the opening was the new Nissan Sunny (Almera in Malaysia). It now goes on sale in Vietnam after being previewed to dealers in April this year. The introduction of the Sunny is said to be timely as consumers in Vietnam are becoming more affluent and want automobiles of higher quality and comfort.

The TCIEV assembly pant in Vietnam

The Sunny is assembled at TCIEV’s own plant in Da Nang which began operations this month. It is the first assembly plant established outside Malaysia by the Tan Chong Group which has two operational plants in Malaysia.

Tan Chong aims to emulate its Malaysian success and experience in assembling various makes and models of automobiles in Vietnam. Dato’ Dr. Ang is confident that the Sunny will drive the expansion of the Nissan brand further in Vietnam and with its success, will join the ranks of other success stories in the region, including that of the United States, China, Thailand and Malaysia.
