The Chinese New Year holidays are coming later this month and as usual, Malaysians will be making long journeys to holiday resorts or their hometowns where they can celebrate the occasion with relatives and friends. As their motoring journey will take them away from their usual locality, it would be a good idea to have their vehicles checked for any potential problems which can spoil their holiday.
Some companies offer free vehicle inspections during this festive period but for those who don’t have such an offer, PUSPAKOM Sdn Bhd is offering a free Voluntary Vehicle Inspection for private vehicle owners.
This will be available from February 5 – 15 at most of its inspection centres nationwide, with the exception of the ones in Shah Alam, Taman Bukit Maluri, Mak Mandin, Kota Bharu, Langkawi, Labuan and Lahad Datu.
PUSPAKOM will also position its mobile inspection unit at Tesco Shah Alam, Seksyen 13, Selangor on February 4 and Plaza Tol Alam Impian on February 11 from 8 am to 5 pm to provide a similar inspection at no charge to the public.
According to the CEO of PUSPAKOM, Mohammed Shukor Ismail, the campaign is referred to as #drivesafenoregrets and is part of the company’s corporate responsibility initiatives. Through this campaign, the company aims to create public awareness on the importance of vehicle safety which contributes to road safety, especially during festive seasons when many will be travelling on the road.
“Over the years, this initiative has continuously received positive response from private vehicle owners. We are glad that each time we offer free inspections, thousands of car owners take the opportunity to get their cars checked at PUSPAKOM. In the past 5 years, more than 15,000 vehicles have undertaken the Free Voluntary Vehicle Inspection service at PUSPAKOM,” he said.
“Every driver plays an important role when it comes to road safety, and it should start with ensuring the safety and roadworthiness of their vehicles. Only if we are willing to shoulder this responsibility only then we can help safeguard the safety of every road user and reduce accident rates which are especially high during the festive seasons.” Encik Shukor added.
For convenience, an appointment is not needed nor are documents required for this inspection. The inspection includes exhaust smoke emission levels, suspension, side-slip, above and below carriage, brakes and the level of tinting on the glass. PUSPAKOM will then issue an inspection report that will provide the vehicle owner with information on the condition of his or her vehicle, which will serve as a guide on any rectification that may be need.
Those who use the Voluntary Vehicle Inspection are also entitled to participate in the ‘Snap & Win’ Facebook contest and win prizes like smartphones, car videorecorder, TouchNGo cards and KFC vouchers.. All they need to do is send (by private message) pictures of their vehicle being inspected to PUSPAKOM’s official Facebook page.
