An additional variant of the Nissan X-Trail is now in Nissan showrooms nationwide. Called the X-Trail X-Tremer, Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) describes it as ‘the avant-garde X-Trail’ for customer wanting the popular SUV with more sophistication.
The X-Trail X-Tremer is finished with a 2-tone Passion Red colour (just in time for the coming Chinese New Year celebrations) and has blacked-out componentry to give distinctiveness. The black items are the roof panel, roof rails, rear spoiler, and door mirror covers. The 17-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels also have a gloss black finish.
The bold front X-Face cladding makes for an even stronger identity, while a new chrome rear bumper protector and black Nappa leather seat upholstery give the sophistication.
“ETCM and Nissan are always pushing the boundaries of innovation to power you through life’s adventures. The New NISSAN X-Trail X-Tremer is for customers wanting a more sophisticated Japanese SUV,” said Mr. Christopher Tan, Sales & Marketing Director of ETCM.
All X-Trail models (T32 generation) feature Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies. These include an Intelligent Around View Monitor that provides a 360-degree perspective for easier parking and positioning of the vehicle; Intelligent Ride Control which moderates pitching motions on bumpy roads by controlling engine torque and brakes to improve ride comfort; and an Intelligent Engine Brake system that adjusts the amount of engine braking to reduce speed when cornering or stopping.
Intelligent Trace Control – a NISSAN-first – automatically applies small amounts of braking to individual wheels to reduce understeer, while the Intelligent 4×4-i System gives the driver a choice between permanent 2WD mode, Auto Mode (2WD or 4WD) or Lock Mode (permanent 4WD). The driver can manually select the mode using a rotary dial on the console between the front seats. When in variable 4WD, a display on the instrument panel shows how torque is varied between the front and rear axles in real-time.
The X-Trail assembled in Malaysia carries a 5-star safety rating by the ASEAN NCAP which is the highest rating currently awarded by the safety organisation. The SUV also fared well under the Child Occupant Protection (COP) category by achieving 72% compliance.
In Peninsular Malaysia, the X-Tremer is priced from RM141,450 (2.0-litre variant) and RM163,650 (2.5-litre variant) while it is about RM2,000 more in East Malaysia markets and as low as RM102,200 in the duty-free areas of Langkawi and Labuan. It comes with a 5-year/unlimited mileage warranty and for those who already have an X-Trail, Comfort/ Aero Edition/ Premium IMPUL variants), the front X-Face cladding and chrome rear bumper protector can also be purchased to add to their vehicles.
