It’s been a while since Isuzu Malaysia came out with a limited edition of the D-Max pick-up truck and just in time for this weekend’s Drive Autofair 2018 event at the Setia City Convention Centre, Selangor, a new X-Series version has been unveiled.
The last time Isuzu Malaysia offered an X-Series version was in 2013 and it was so appealing that the limited numbers available quickly found owners. Now the company is again offering the latest D-MAX X-Series as a limited edition, with 90 units for the 2.5-litre variant and 120 units for the 3.0-litre variant.
The prices (excluding insurance in Peninsular Malaysia) are RM118,000 for the 2.5-litre variant and RM124,000 for 3-litre variant. There’s a choice of two body colours – Silky Pearl White and Stallion Black Metallic. Every unit of the X-Series comes with a package consisting of an exclusive X-Series slingbag, tumbler, key chain and Touch’NGo card.
The theme for this limited edition is sportiness with a bolder appearance. The key exterior features include a front skirt that extends a bit more downwards but still has enough clearance from the ground to avoid being damaged when driving off-road. There is also rear skirting and behind the dual cab is a custom-designed aero sport bar.
Other exterior accessories for this limited edition version are the exclusive red Isuzu logo badge at the rear tailgate with the X-Series emblem. At the front, the exclusive finish for the grille is dark grey with a distinctive red Isuzu logo in the middle. The exclusive nature of this version is shown by the body decals, with a broad stripe running from the bonnet to the tailgate – just like sportscars.
When getting in or out of the cabin, a ‘welcome light’ shines from the door mirrors on either side onto the ground just outside the doors. The illumination, which is on for 30 seconds, will be useful for seeing if the ground is muddy or there are puddles.
Inside, besides the comprehensive range of features, the X-Series also gets a 360° Around View Monitor (AVM) system which uses 4 tiny cameras around the truck to capture real-time images. By referring to the display, the driver will be able to position the D-MAX more easily as he or she can see all sides as well as a simulated view from above.
Another special feature is the built-in unit for a Touch’NGo electronic toll card. The transmitter is on the windscreen and the card can be slotted into the device in the centre armrest area. A small screen shows remaining value in the card and a beeping sound will be activated when the balance is less than RM10.
Other exclusive features include red LED interior accent lights and LED illuminator rocker plates.
The D-MAX X-Series will be in showrooms of authorized Isuzu dealers in both Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia by the first week of August. If you can’t wait till then, you can also go to the event at the Setia Alam Convention Centre where a few units are available for test drive this weekend.
