SOURCES online are reporting that KTM is in the midst of readying its India-based production facility to produce a new and revised version of its popular Duke 390 naked bike slated for 2017.
According to a reliable online source, the Austrian brand has reportedly shipped two prototypes to India. Leaked shipping documents further identified the shipment with a description written as “motorcycle, 390 Duke MY17”. The manifest comes complete with details such as the bike’s engine and frame serial numbers, with the import manifest indicating “for R&D purposes” stated as the reason for its importation into the country.
Though designed in Austria, the Duke 390 is actually manufactured in India and other parts of Asia to keep costs down, and the model’s retail prices competitive. Given the allegedly leaked import document, it is believed KTM is readying its production facilities in time to produce mass numbers of the model by the end of 2016. The 2017-year Duke 390 is expected to debut officially around the same time as well.
