Groupe PSA and Naza Corporation Holdings have jointly announced the appointment of Laurence Noel (right) as CEO of the Naza Automotive Manufacturing (NAM). This follows the acquisition of a majority stake by Groupe PSA in February this year which makes the plant in Gurun, Kedah, the first manufacturing hub in ASEAN for the French group which has the Peugeot, Citroen and DS Automobile brands.

Apart from being CEO of NAM, Ms Noel will also serve as the Group’s Senior Vice President, for ASEAN. She will report to Carlos Gomes, Executive Vice President, China & Southeast Asia.

Ms Noel, 46, has been with Groupe PSA since 1995, holding various positions in Powertrain Projects and Programmes. With her engineering background, she then took charge of the Powertrain, Platform and Module Programmes in 2014. In her new position, she will be tasked primarily with accelerating the Group’s development in Southeast Asia, as announced in its ‘Push to Pass’ plan in 2016.

The agreement with the Naza Group gives the Malaysian corporation the sole responsibility for the distribution of vehicles of the Peugeot, Citroen and DS Automobiles brands in the domestic market. Additionally, with Groupe PSA, there will be exploration of distribution prospects in other ASEAN markets which have a potential of 680 million customers in total at this time.
