Mazda has had a long history in motorsport, especially in production class races and even being the only Japanese carmaker to win the legendary Le Mans 24-hour race.

Even in Malaysia, Mazda has been well known in local motorsports and older readers will remember the rotary-engined REs challenging the Alfa Romeos at Batu Tiga.

Then as now, Mazda cars have been engineered with a human-centric development philosophy, to provide the joy of driving for every owner. Jinba-ittai is what the engineers aim to achieve with every model where the driver and car are one, just as a rider and his horse.

Although not widely publicised, Bermaz Motor, which distributes and markets Mazda vehicles, has a MazdaSports division. The division carries out vehicle development, parts and accessories development and experience programmes. Since its establishment in 2016, the MazdaSports Division has developed 2 models under its vehicle development projects – the Mazda3 and Mazda2 with the nameplate MS and M+, for the Malaysian market.

It also established the MazdaSports Academy which offers unique driver experience programmes that are in true spirit of Mazda’s brand essence – Celebrate Driving.  The MazdaSports Academy will first introduce the Advanced Driving ownership experience programme designed specifically for Mazda owners in Malaysia which will take place on June 9 at the MAEPS in Serdang, outside Kuala Lumpur.

Those who attend this programme will learn to experience being one with their Mazda and discover their driving potential. Besides understanding the fundamentals of being a sporty driver, they will also have an opportunity to enhance their abilities during a dynamic driving practical course.

The programme is limited to 20 Mazda owners of the Mazda2, Mazda3 and CX-3 who will use their own cars. There is a commitment fee of RM80. Those who wish to participate in the 1-day session can submit their application (first come-first served basis) do so via Mazda Malaysia’s Facebook Page.
