BMW Group Malaysia today celebrated its 100 years of innovation at BMW Innovation Days Malaysia 2016 and introduced the new BMW 330e, its second locally-assembled hybrid vehicle with eDrive Technology.

Speaking at the launch event, Mr. Han Sang Yun, Managing Director & CEO of BMW Group Malaysia said: “The BMW Group have been the pioneering force in the automotive industry with a clear focus on Mobility of Future. In celebration of our 100 years of visionary innovations as well as Sheer Driving Pleasure, we are not only recognizing how far we have come in establishing a legacy of pioneering mobility but are also reaffirming our commitment to continue fortifying that legacy for the next 100 years.”

Mr. Han added that thelocally-assembled 330e is the 12th model to join the portfolio of locally-assembled vehicles at BMW Group Malaysia’s assembly facilities at the Kulim Hi-Tech Park.

“The launch of the new BMW 330e is a testament to both the legacy of the BMW brand and future oriented mobility. Since its inception, the BMW 3-Series sedan has been challenging boundaries and standards in its class without forsaking its identity as an iconic driving machine. Today, the BMW 330e continues to drive the future of mobility with pioneering hybrid technology and cutting-edge engineering,” said Mr. Han.

The 330e powertrain is equipped with an electric motor which works synchronously with a BMW TwinPower Turbo 2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine. Maximum output is 252 bhp with a peak torque of 420 Nm while combined fuel consumption is claimed to be 47.6 kms/litre. The electric motor alone delivers an output of 65 kW/88 bhp and can power the car at speeds of up to 120 km/h.

The high-voltage battery pack has a gross energy capacity of 7.6 kWh and can be topped up with energy from any domestic power socket. Full charge by a conventional domestic power socket would take 5 hours but with the BMW Wallbox Pro, charging time can be 3.5 hours.

As part of BMW 360° ELECTRIC, customers are offered the ChargeNow service, which consists of a ChargeNow card that grants straightforward access to partner charging stations like ChargEV which is offered through BMW Group Malaysia’s partnership with Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia). ChargEV stations are operational in 19 strategic locations throughout Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Kedah, Melaka, and Johor.

The 330e’s price (excluding insurance) would be RM368,800 but with the provisions in the current National Automotive Policy which gives financial incentives to companies assembling hybrids and Energy Efficient Vehicles, BMW Group Malaysia can reduce the retail price by RM120,000 to RM248,800.00.
