VW Beetle Dune

The current Beetle has been around a while and for some, it’s ‘common’ though the number on Malaysian roads is actually not that big. If you have been thinking of getting one but wish it could be a bit more exclusive, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has brought in the Beetle Dune just for you.

Imported from Mexico, where Volkswagen has situated its global production hub for the Beetle, only 50 units of the Dune edition are available for the Malaysian market at RM179,990 each (price excluding insurance).

The name of this edition comes from the dune buggies racing around the deserts and beaches that were popular in 1960s and 1970s, so this Beetle is about the freedom of the outdoors. It has a more more rugged feel and amenities never before offered on the third-generation Beetle. The Sandstorm Yellow colour also has inspiration from the desert.

Other identifiers for the Beetle Dune are black stripes and side mouldings, different front and rear bumpers, and a rear spoiler with 18-inch ‘Canyon’ alloy wheels fitted. The car sits slightly taller with an extra 10 mm of ground clearance.

Under the bonnet, the Beetle Dune has a 1.4-litre turbocharged TSI petrol engine with a 7-speed direct shift gearbox (DSG) delivering 150 ps/ 250 Nm.

We are delighted to be able to introduce this ‘charming rebel’ in Malaysia, and we hope that the Beetle enthusiasts will seize this opportunity to get this limited-edition Beetle,” said Florian Steiner, Managing Director of Volkswagen Passengers Cars Malaysia.
