For those who have wanted to own the 2017 World Car of the Year – the Jaguar F-PACE – but felt that the asking price of around RM600,000 is too high, Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia (JLRM) now has a lower-priced variant available. With a lower engine displacement than the 3-litre version launched here at the end of 2016, the import duties are lower (along with the roadtax) so the F-PACE 2.0 can be priced between RM425,800 and RM498,800 (excluding insurance/roadtax).

Three variants are available – Prestige, R-Sport (Mid-Spec) and R-Sport (Hi-Spec) – and all are powered by a 2-litre petrol engine (right) from Jaguar’s own Ingenium family. The lightweight turbocharged (twin-scroll) engine produces 250 ps/365 Nm and output to the wheels goes through a compact and light 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF specially engineered for the F-PACE.

With Configurable Dynamics, the F-PACE offers a personalised driving experience. The system allows drivers to choose Normal or Sports settings which will use specific programming for the throttle response, transmission changes and steering response.

Adaptive Dynamics modifies the suspension’s damper response to match the different conditions and driving style. It analyses acceleration, cornering, throttle and brake pedal activity to optimise the suspension settings and maintain the car’s dynamism and comfort.

Like the other current Jaguar models, the F-PACE has been engineered to be as light as possible using the company’s Lightweight Aluminium Architecture. It is also Jaguar’s first aluminium-intensive model in its class.

Staying true to its concept from when it was first developed, the F-PACE remains a practical SUV for everyday usability.

It seats 5 comfortably in a spacious, luxurious cabin which has premium materials, craftsmanship and the attention to detail that the British brand is noted for. Compared to immediate rivals, it has the biggest boot volume, widest cabin width, most rear knee room and easiest rear access.

JLRM has imported the F-PACE 2.0 with a comprehensive list of equipment and safety features. The high-tech features such as the Surround Camera System, Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist and 12.3-inch Display  Panel are available only with the R-Sport (High-Spec) variant.

Buying from JLRM or its authorised dealers ensures that the F-PACE (and other Jaguar models) is properly tuned for Malaysian climate, environment, fuel quality conditions and meet Malaysian emission standards. They also come with Jaguar Care, a programme which includes a 5-year warranty, 5 years of free scheduled service and 3 years of’ roadside assistance.
