With continual flash floods affecting the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia lately, many motorists have had the misfortune of having their vehicles flooded because the water levels have risen too fast for them to remove the vehicles. A vehicle that has been flooded can be severely damaged and repairs can be costly.

For those who own Kia vehicles, there’s good news from Naza Kia Malaysia, the official distributor of KIA vehicles in Malaysia. The company is extending its flood relief programme up till February 28, 2018 and all authorised Kia outlets in the East Coast will offer assistance.

The assistance is in the form of a free vehicle inspection and professional advice concerning the condition of the vehicle, and repairs that will be needed. For those who require the repairs, Naza Kia Malaysia has authorised its dealers to give a discount of up to 50% for genuine Kia parts used as well as discounts on labour charges (subject to the degree of damage incurred).

This flood relief programme is only available for replacement of genuine parts in Kia vehicles which are not insured for natural disaster. Many motorists do not have the additional coverage for floods and therefore cannot make claims in such situations.

For those whose vehicles are caught in floods, the company offers the following advice:
♦ Do not attempt to start your vehicle or turn on ignition switch.
♦ Manually unlock your vehicle’s doors using the key to avoid failure of electronic parts from remote alarm usage.
♦ Immediately disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electricity flow within your vehicle.
♦ Lodge a police report and inform your insurance company.
♦ Remove valuables from your vehicle before manually locking your vehicle.
♦ Make arrangements to tow your vehicle to the nearest Naza Kia service centre for inspection.
