All good things have to come to an end and the downward trend of pump prices has ended. After midnight tonight, motorists will pay more for their fuel. The higher revised prices affect both petrol and diesel, with the latter having the greatest increase of 5 sen.
RON95 petrol will be RM2.20 a litre, up 3 sen, while RON97 petrol goes to RM2.47, another 4 sen for each litre. The Euro2M grade of diesel will be RM2.18 a litre for the coming seven days, 5 sen more than what it was over the Chinese New Year period.
How fast the government wants to bump up pump prices remains to be seen since the drops over the past 2 weeks was significant. Hopefully, the increases will be gradual rather than in big amounts over a short period. Gradual increases will be less ‘painful’ although the government would say that the prices are following global trends so how they change is not up to the government to control… sort of.
