If you’re still not convinced that the new Mitsubishi Triton is a superior off-road machine, you can see its capabilities proven this weekend. Two-time Dakar Rally champion Hiroshi Masuoka from Japan and Malaysian Motorsports Athlete, Leona Chin, will be ‘taxi drivers’ at the Mitsubishi 4Sure Thrill event which will be held on Saturday and Sunday (March 9 and 10) at Setia City Convention Centre Outdoor (near Shah Alam, Selangor) carpark from 10 am – 8 pm.
The two skilled drivers will show off the 4 pillars of the Triton – 4Sure Power; 4Sure Control; 4Sure Agility; 4Sure Safety – which give it go-anywhere capability, even at high speeds.
The taxi drivers
Hiroshi Masuoka is one of only two Japanese drivers to ever win the Dakar Rally (in 2002 and 2003), contributing to Mitsubishi Motors’ 12-time record of being the most successful make in what is regarded as the world’s toughest race.
Leona Chin is Malaysia’s ‘Girl Drifter’ and some of her recent achievements include Most Promising Female Motorsports Athlete in the Asia Automotive Awards 2019 and Most Inspiring Female Motorsports Athlete in the PETRONAS SIC Motorsports Association of Malaysia Awards.
After the thrilling taxi rides, the public can also try out the Triton themselves on a special course – at lower speeds, of course. They will be able to experience the Super-Select 4WD II system and off-road mode as well as Hill Descent Control which help them drive safely and confidently in difficult and muddy terrain.
Free Starbucks coffee will be provided for the first 100 participants to complete all 3 courses (high-speed ride, off-road obstacle course and on-road test drive).
Gifts for customers
The first 1,000 customers to own the new Triton will receive an exclusive limited-edition Thule Subterra Luggage worth RM2,000 and petrol card vouchers worth RM30 will be given to the first 30 owners who book any new Mitsubishi model. Other activities during the weekend include a 4Sure Thrill photo/video contest where the winners will receive RM800 petrol card vouchers, RM500 TouchNGo card and RM300 Tesco vouchers for the first, second and third prizes, respectively.
