Pick-up trucks don’t change generations as often as passenger cars so the companies selling them have to keep them appealing for many years and so there are regular enhancements and upgrades. For the Isuzu D-MAX, Isuzu Malaysia has given the latest 2018 model an upgraded interior, new and better features along with a fresh colour option.

The new Premium D-MAX (available with a choice of 3-litre and 2-litre turbodiesel engines) and D-Max Z-Prestige are now equipped with a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This system includes GPS Navigation, Smart Mirroring, wifi, and various connectivity options (AUX, USB, Bluetooth, etc).

This expands the functionality of the system to offer more than just music and radio broadcasts. The navigation system has been programmed with the locations of authorized Isuzu outlets so that wherever a D-MAX owner is in Malaysia, it will be possible to easily find the nearest service centre if assistance is needed.

A new feature for 2018 is a sliding cargo tray which is available for the Z-Prestige variant (extra-cost option for the other variants). The tray slides to the back of the cargo area, making goods easier to retrieve when pulled forward to the tail gate. This also reduces the instances of back injury as the user can lift the heavy load closer to the body.

The leather upholstery for the Premium (3 litres) and Z-Prestige is also new. It has a contemporary sporty design with rectangular geometric shapes.

A new colour – Cavalry Purple Mica – replaces Nautilus Blue Mica among the exterior colour choices. The appearance of this colour is blackish under dark conditions but appears as a dark shade of purple under the sun.

“The enhanced D-Max retains our core values – fuel efficiency, durability, and reliability – and the exterior and interior improvements are made in accordance to the user needs so that it will be favourably acknowledged by the users in Malaysia,” said Isuzu Malaysia’s COO, Masayuki Suzuki.
