An all-new generation of the popular Nissan Serena S-HYBRID will be in Malaysian showrooms in May 2018. Prior to the official launch, Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) welcomes bookings for the new MPV so if you are keen to be among the first to own one, make your deposit at any authorised Nissan showroom quickly.

The all-new Serena S-HYBRID has new styling which adds a sporty touch to what is typically a boxy appearance. It is powered by a 2-litre MR20DD petrol engine with Twin CVTC (Continuously Variable-valve Timing Control), paired to a XTRONIC CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with Adaptive Shift Control (ASC). The maximum power output of this engine is now at 150 ps/200 Nm which reaches the wheels more efficiently, thanks to the adoption of the new Dual Arm Tensioner. This feature reduces tension on the arm belt which reduces power losses while also improving fuel efficiency.

The S-HYBRID powertrain is a compact hybrid system and has an upgraded version of the ECO motor that controls the Idling Stop system. The ECO motor provides additional torque assist in start-up acceleration, giving the MPV extra zip when moving off. It also acts as an alternator to facilitate energy recuperation during deceleration and braking.

According to ETCM, improvements to the engine have resulted in fuel economy claimed to be best in class – 14.2 kms/litre (NEDC R101 test cycle). This qualifies the model for Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) incentives under the current National Automotive Policy, helping to lower its retail price.

With this new model, ETCM offers an array of Nissan Intelligent Mobility features, one of which is a first-in-class Intelligent Around View Monitor. Using 4 cameras, a simulated overhead view is created which gives the driver a view of all sides of the Serena S-HYBRID. This makes parking easier and safety is enhanced as the driver will be able to spot little children who may be playing near the vehicle but are not visible in the mirrors.

Other new features include Intelligent Moving Object Detection that detects moving objects surrounding the vehicle to alert the driver; Hands-Free Dual Power Sliding Doors which will open/close when a foot is placed under the door; and Captain’s Seats for additional comfort. There are also 7 USB points for recharging personal devices.

As for safety, the Serena S-HYBRID comes with 6 SRS Airbags as standard. Active safety systems include Vehicle Dynamic Control, Traction Control, ABS, Brake Assist, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, and Hill Start Assist. Two ISOFIX points are provided to easily install and secure compatible childseats.

During April and May, ETCM will have displays and roadshows for the new Serena S-HYBRID in Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah. To find out the dates and venues, visit www.nissan.com.my where you can also get the locations of Nissan showrooms to make a booking.
