UMW Toyota Malaysia has just announced that the all-new 2023 Toyota Vios is now available for pre-order by consumers. This time around, the manufacturer has reduced the number of variants from four to two, with the entry-level 1.5E and the top-of-the-line 1.5G being the only options. The factory has included many features as standard, making the specifications of the entry-level model quite impressive.

Exterior

Visually, it’s clear that this generation of Vios has adopted Toyota’s latest family-style exterior design, complete with sharp LED headlights and taillights with a smoky effect. The front grille gives the overall look a more premium and sporty appearance. The E version of the car is fitted with Toyo Proxes CR1 tires with a size of 195/60 R16, while the top-of-the-line G version is equipped with Continental Premium Contact C tires with a size of 205/50 R17. It also features Sequential Indicator flow-style turn signals, adding to its impressive appearance.

Interior

The interior has undergone significant upgrades, with the factory utilizing a Dual Tone dashboard made of soft-touch plastics, elevating the overall quality of the interior. Other features include a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a digital air conditioning control panel. There is even an air conditioning vent for the rear seats, an essential feature for a family car. Additionally, the high-end models come with unique 64-color ambient lighting, an EPB electronic handbrake with Autohold function, a 360-degree panoramic camera, and more.

As for the powertrain, it features the familiar 1.5L Dual VVT-i engine paired with a brand new D-CVT transmission, delivering a maximum horsepower of 104 hp and peak torque of 138 Nm. The D-CVT transmission promises better fuel efficiency and faster acceleration, although we have yet to test drive the vehicle. The E version comes with drum brakes at the rear, while the G version is equipped with disc brakes on all four wheels, providing superior braking performance.
