Lexus Malaysia, a division of UMW Toyota Motor, started the year by strengthening its presence in Malaysia with the opening of another two outlets in the Kuala Lumpur. One is an exclusive showroom in the heart of the ‘Golden Triangle’ in Bukit Bintang (above left) while the other is a full-fledged 3S centre (sales, service and spare parts) in Sungai Besi.
Speaking at the opening ceremony held at the Sungai Besi showroom, UMW Toyota Motor’s President, Datuk Ismet Suki, said: “Since 2007, we have sold more than 4,300 units of Lexus vehicles in Malaysia. Out of this, close to 1,500 units were sold last year alone. With the steady growth year after year, we are proud that our stable of flawlessly crafted luxury cars has been well received by Malaysians.”
Commenting on the location of the 3S centre in Sungai Besi adjacent to the busy road leading to the south, Datuk Ismet said that it is a strategic location taking into account future development in the area. He explained that choice locations are not easy to get around the city and in view of expected commercial development to take place at the large TUDM airbase nearby, the area should grow in importance in coming years, so Lexus will be well placed.
Lexus Sungai Besi is owned and operated by Wing Hin Auto Carriage Sdn Bhd, a long-time distributor of Lexus and Toyota vehicles in Malaysia. The renovated RM5.5 million facility has 10 service bays, a luxurious guest lounge from which owners can watch their cars being serviced while enjoying Lexus hospitality, and an elegant showroom displaying the latest models.
At the Lexus Kuala Lumpur showroom, the brilliance of Lexus vehicles is showcased and visitors will also experience the well-known Lexus standard of hospitality which fuses Asian warmth and thoughtfulness with the quality, standards, and dynamism of the west.
With the two new showrooms, Lexus Malaysia now has five outlets nationwide, of which four are full-fledged 3S centres. Another three – in Ipoh, Kuching, and Malacca – will be opened during the fourth quarter of this year.
Datuk Ismet said that ever since Lexus began official representation in Malaysia, many people have preferred to buy from Lexus Malaysia instead of other sources because of the full after-sales support and customer care that is available. He believes that Lexus vehicles are an appealing and attractive alternative for those who have been limited to German luxury models for years.
