When my eyes first set on the official photos, my thoughts immediately went Peugeot isn’t playing around this time. Having taken the equally radical new 3008 out for a spin, I knew immediately that the new 508 would look stunning with the company’s new design direction.
Inspired from a sport coupé (which Peugeot admits) the design of the all-new 508 has a fastback design beautifully integrated the rear hatch, while offering a significantly larger opening to its 487-litre boot.
Contrasted with sharp side window design, elegant frameless doors and alloy wheels designed to fill the wheel arch housings, giving the 508 its impressive stance, whilst carrying all the hallmark features of latest Peugeot models, including the full LED ‘claw-effect’ rear lights.
There’s plenty of new tech featured in as well; On top of the advanced driver assistance, the new flagship now comes with a new night vision system which is new to the segment and uses an infrared camera with the ability to detect people, animals and cyclists in case of reduced visibility.
Peugeot hasn’t release what’s powering the new D-Segger Pug, but said that it will come with six different petrol and diesel engine and transmission combinations ranging from 130hp to 225hp.
Europe will get theirs first which orders will open from Summer 2018, while we Malaysians will have to wait a little longer, for now.
