Fans of the Proton Satria Neo will be pleased to know that the model has not been retired as rumoured. In fact, the company has enhanced it with inclusion of a R3 bodykit and accessories which enhance its looks.

Available in the Executive Line grade with manual or automatic transmission and the 125-bhp CamPro 1.6-litre CPS engine, the latest Satria Neo R3 is priced at RM61,250 and RM64,250, respectively. This is great news for those who have been wanting a 3-door hatchback and found none at the lower end of the market and those that are available cost a lot more.

“We believe there’s a market for an affordable sports hatchback,” said Dato’ Sri Hj. Mohd Khamil Jamil, Executive Chairman of Proton. “The Satria Neo R3 is targeted for the young and the young at heart and, of course, motorsports enthusiasts. With the added R3 kit, it is ‘coolness’ that is affordable with performance that is proven.”

According to Dato’ Sri Hj. Mohd Khamil, existing demand for Satria Neo has been being fuelled by the success of the Satria Neo S2000 in local and international rally championships, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. Last year, the Satria Neo S2000 put Proton in rallying history when it became the first manufacturer to win an unprecedented 8 individual titles in the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship (APRC).

In conjunction with the launch of Satria Neo R3, Proton is also introducing special R3 packages for early buyers of the latest model, as well as R3 performance enhancements specially targeted for motorsports enthusiasts who wish to invest in further styling and performance parts for their Satria Neo R3.

For those who book and register their new car by December 31, 2012, their cars will come with the signature R3 side stripe and front grille stickers (after the date, these will still be available at extra cost). Performance parts from R3 for the Satria Neo such as a Lowered Spring Set, Full Exhaust System and Belt Accessory Drive are also available as special packages.

“With these R3 packages, the standard styling and performance of a Satria Neo R3 can be further enhanced to provide more choices for our discerning customers or motorsports enthusiasts who want more out of their cars. You can today purchase your Satria Neo R3 with full assurance that, should you wish to upgrade its performance at a later stage, that option is available to you from Proton,” said Dato’ Sri Hj. Mohd Khamil.

In standard form, the Satria Neo R3 – which is now assembled at the Proton plant and not individually – comes with R3 items such as the rear roof spoiler and front splitter, titanium-coloured side protecting moulding and 16-inch alloy rims for an aggressive look. Inside, there are R3 items like front semi-bucket seats and leather upholstery, R3 floormats as well as an improved 2DIN multimedia system which includes GPS navigation.

Colours available are Fire Red, GTi Silver and Tranquility Black – and for the first time ever – the same Canary Yellow that is used for the Satria Neo S2000 rallycar.

The Satria Neo R3 comes with a factory warranty period 3 years/100,000 kms (whichever comes first).
