BMW Group AG has appointed Harald Hoelzl to assume the roles and responsibilities as the new Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of BMW Group Malaysia, effective March 1, 2018. Mr. Hoelzl will continue in the leadership position from Han Sang Yun who, in turn, will take on a new position as President of BMW Group Korea.

Mr. Hoelzl began his career with the BMW Group in 2002 and has served in various functions in the Sales, Marketing, Dealer Development and IT departments. With an impressive track record, BMW Group AG appointed him as Head of Marketing at BMW Group Central South Eastern Europe in 2011 before leading the BMW Group’s operations in the Czech Republic.

Mr. Han, who has been with BMW Group Malaysia since January 2015, will assume his new position on March 1 as well, taking over from current President Dr. Hyojoon Kim who will become Representative Director & Chairman for BMW in the country.

During his time in Malaysia, Mr. Han led the company to its best-ever performance growth in 2017 and was also the key driver in growing BMW Group Malaysia’s portfolio of Plug-in Hybrid vehicles. It has reached 55% of total sales volume delivery in the country, further driving the brand’s strategy for Visionary Mobility.
