Soon, many Malaysians will embark on their journey to their hometowns to celebrate the Hari Raya festive season with their loved ones. In conjunction with this annual event, Boustead Petroleum Marketing Sdn Bhd (which markets and distributes BHPetrol fuels and lubricants), together with the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) and Road Safety Council Malaysia (MKJR) recently held a 3-day program to promote road safety.

The program, known as the Car Care Week Jom Balik Kampung Raya, was held at three BHPetrol stations at three locations – Kg Sg Kayu Ara, Petaling Jaya, Lebuhraya KL – Karak and the KL – Klang highway. At the stations, motorists were offered a free 21-point inspection from 10 am to 4 pm.

The 21-point inspection, which took 10 – 15 minutes, covered engine oil, gear oil, brake conditions, tyre condition, vehicle lights, etc. The inspections were available to any brand and models and the owners were advised on any issues concerning their vehicles after the inspection process.

Additionally, those who sent their vehicles the inspection could win free gifts provided by MKJR as well as received goody bags full of snacks and drinks sponsored by BHPetrol’s suppliers.

The Jom Balik Kampung Raya initiative was held as part of the MAI Car Care Week campaign which aims to educate consumers on the importance of vehicle inspection, maintenance and repair. According to the MAI, 163,010 vehicles (as at April 2018) have benefited from the Car Care Week campaign since it was initiated in 2014.

While the importance of safe driving habits cannot be understated, the roadworthiness of vehicles on the roads is also an important aspect in reducing the number of casualties on Malaysian roads, particularly during the long journey home during festive seasons such as the Hari Raya Aidilfitri break.

“Promoting safe driving awareness especially during festive holidays has always been our company priority to our customers. Through this campaign, we hope all travellers will take the opportunity to get their car inspected at our selected stations and ensure their cars are in safe good condition for ‘raya balik kampung’ journey to meet their loved ones,” said Ir Azizul Azily Ahmad, General Manager Supply, Retail and Government & Public Affairs of BHPetrol.
