MOTORCYCLE clothing retailer Hein Gericke has gone into administration for the second time in less than 18 months.

Most of the 16 UK stores that remained following the firm’s initial collapse in 2012 have now shut, with staff sent home and told they are no longer employed by the company.

Unconfirmed rumours also suggest that some staff have not been paid for two months.

Three stores remained open as of December 19, reports, with those being Glasgow, Stockwell and Farnborough.

Gift vouchers that have been bought in the run-up to Christmas will not be honoured, prompting one redundant member of staff to telephone popular biking newspaper MCN.

The unnamed member of staff said: “We have been told all 16 shops are shutting down, all of us have lost our jobs and that’s the end.

“I am obviously upset but many of us are concerned because we have been selling vouchers in the lead up to Christmas but it doesn’t look like anyone is going to be able to get them honoured now.”

There are 54 Hein Gericke shops in Germany that will remain open until further notice, but 85 stores across Europe have shut down.
