To advocate tyre checking habits before a long trip, Goodyear Malaysia recently organized a series of free tyre checks around the Klang Valley, covering areas from Putrajaya to Bandar Utama. According to the company, a total of 10,000 tyres were thoroughly examined in the span of one week, with the effort culminating at Quill City Mall in Kuala Lumpur where shoppers were able to participate in the campaign.

The inspections are part of Goodyear’s Better Future initiative which focuses on building a safe and smart community around the world.

The project aims to remind customers of the importance of road safety when travelling, especially during festive periods like the coming Hari Raya Aidilifitri celebrations and building community awareness on the crucial role that tyres play in car safety.

8 associates from Goodyear Malaysia conducted the detailed checks on 2,500 cars during the period, after which the vehicle owners were presented with a card indicating the condition of their tyres. With the card, there were also entitled to an additional free 10-point tyre check at participating Goodyear outlets.

The event also saw more than 2,500 Raya Thoughtful Packs distributed to consumers, each containing Egyptian Kurma and a Goodyear Basic Tyre Maintenance booklet. The booklet provides with the necessary knowledge on tyre and vehicle checks before driving back to their hometowns.

“We always believe that enriching communities through such meaningful involvement and knowledge sharing are the best ways to go in building a safer world. Goodyear is conscious of and committed in playing its role to impart knowledge to the communities around us, aiming to elevate head-to-heart knowledge on road safety,” said Ben Hoge, MD of Goodyear Malaysia.

“Tyres are a very important aspect of a car as it is the only thing that separates the road from the car. Therefore, knowing more about the reliability of their tyres and their role towards road safety are essential for drivers, for a safer on-the-road experience,” he said.

“Onwards from this initiative, we hope to assist the nation with overall preparedness from Hari Raya shopping to Hari Raya travelling, as well as to remind everyone of getting their vehicles checked for a pleasant journey ahead,” Mr. Hoge added.

In conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya celebration, Goodyear is having a Hari Raya promotion at all participating Goodyear outlets nationwide. The promotion offers customers up to RM80 worth of AEON or Giant shopping vouchers with every purchase of 4 new Goodyear tyres (depending on the pattern purchased). For more information and terms and conditions, visit www.goodyear.com.my or Goodyear Malaysia’s Facebook Page.
