To celebrate Malaysia’s 60th year of Independence, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has created a limited edition of the Volkswagen Beetle as a ‘Merdeka Edition’. Only 16 units of the model – in Pure White or White Silver – will be offered for sale at RM136,888 (excluding insurance premium but with 60 months of roadtax).
Inside, the special Beetle comes with a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, 5.8-inch Touchscreen ‘Composition Colour’ with USB and Bluetooth connectivity and an 8-speaker audio system. The seat covers are in ‘Pepita’ fabric.
Under the iconic bonnet is a proven 1.2-litre turbocharged TSI petrol engine with an output of 105 ps/175 Nm, allied with an efficient 7-speed automatic transmission (DSG).
Besides a 5-year warranty and other benefits that Volkswagen owners in Malaysia get, the owner of the Merdeka Edition Beetle will also get a limited-edition Beetle suitcase.
The Merdeka Edition Beetle is accompanied by the special edition Jetta ALLSTAR which will be the highlights at the inaugural Volkswagen Fest 2017. The event is held at the Setia Convention Centre in Setia Alam, Selangor, from today until August 13, 2017.
Erik Winter, Managing Director of VPCM, said the Volkswagen Fest 2017 was specially curated for visitors to experience a carnival-like atmosphere. “Volkswagen cars are better experienced than explained, and with all the test-drive activities, amazing offers and plenty of family fun, the Volkswagen Fest 2017 is one of the best platforms we can provide for members of the public to be able to enjoy this,” he explained.
The Volkswagen Fest 2017 is definitely an event for Volkswagen fans as there is a gathering of current and classic Volkswagen cars, including the original Beetle, Kombi vans and even the Karmann Ghia derivative.
Those who want to join the Volkswagen family will find special offers during the three days. Ongoing promotions include low H-P interest rates (from 0.28% per annum) for the Vento and Passat (0.88%), and 5 years of free maintenance on selected models. Pre-registered units are also available at attractive prices.
Those wanting to sell off their current vehicle for a Volkswagen can get a free valuation of their vehicle and quick loan checks by partner banks to assist in their H-P loan applications. For existing Volkswagen owners, there’s a free 20-point check on their cars, and 15% discount on parts and labour.
Even if you are not interested in cars, the Volkswagen Fest 2017 has many other activities for all the family. Enjoy meals by some of Klang Valley’s best food trucks, live performances by local artistes, nail art for the ladies and a special Sunset Yoga and Zumba session for fitness enthusiasts.
If you can’t make it to the Volkswagen Fest 2017, you can still view and test-drive the various models at authorised dealerships nationwide, including Wearnes Automotive. To locate a Volkswagen showroom near you, visit www.volkswagen.com.my.
