The new Toyota Hilux had its official launch today with a target of 14,000 units to be sold in 2011. Prior to today’s event, Toyota showrooms had already received some 3,000 orders for the new model, the latest version of Malaysia’s best-selling pick-up since its introduction in 2005.
“More than 90,000 units of the Hilux have been sold since its launch in 2005, and in 2010 alone, UMW Toyota Motor delivered over 18,500 units. Up till August this year, close to 14,000 units have been sold which is an increase of 20% over the same period in 2010,” said Ismet Suki, President of UMW Toyota Motor.
The new Hilux is available in five variants with two turbodiesel engine sizes – 2.5 litres and 3.0 litres – and manual and automatic transmissions. With the exception of one variant which is a single cab, all the others are double cabs with two rows of seating and four doors.
