The new ASX (RVR in Japan) from Mitsubishi Motors will join the line-up of models imported and distributed by Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) next month. Together with this announcement, MMM also says that the estimated price in Peninsular Malaysia will be RM140,000 and those who want to be among the first to own one can make their booking at authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealers.
The ASX is not a successor to the Airtrek or Outlander but is a new crossover product with the concept of ‘Smart Size’. It’s more compact than a conventional SUV but has larger dimensions than that of a compact car. More importantly, it offers a higher seating position which many people appreciate as it gives a better view all round and adds confidence to driving. However, unlike SUVs, Mitsubishi Motors has engineered the ASX to offer agility and passenger car-type handling.
The ASX has a 2.0-litre 16-valve MIVEC engine producing 150 ps/197 Nm. Power delivery to the wheels is through an INVECS-III CVT gearbox with 6-step Sports Mode.
Equipment levels are said to be generous. The ASX sold in Malaysia will have standard Active Stability Control, Hill Start Assist and dual front airbags (plus a driver’s knee airbag). Also included are leather seats, 2DIN Wide Touch Screen Audio system, reverse camera, automatic climate control and cruise control. There is also a full-colour LCD multi information system in the instrument panel.
More information is available at Mitsubishi Motors showrooms nationwide or you can visit www.mitsubishi-motors.com.my
