BHP Euro5 DieselOften, when people go shopping for a new vehicle, the main point of negotiation is the price and how much discount can be given. When it’s a ‘sellers’ market’ and demand is high, obviously the discount will be less and vice-verse when it’s a ‘buyers’ market’ where the customer has a stronger position because sales are slow. However, while discounts are something tangible and can make a difference on your loan and instalments, free maintenance should also not be ignored.

Free maintenance, provided it covers parts costs, has a certain value too and will help you reduce your running costs. After all, you will have to bring your vehicle in for servicing periodically and you have to do so at an authorized service centre, so if you do not have to pay anything, that is a saving.

Unfortunately, free maintenance is not something you can negotiate, unlike a discount, but it can still be regarded like a discount since it saves you money (except in a different way). Some companies offer free service as a sales incentive and this certainly adds value to the purchase.

For a limited time, Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC), is offering customers 5 years (or the first 100,000 kms after registration) of free scheduled maintenance with the purchase of a new Ford Ranger XLT. The offer, along with attractive cash rebates, is on until December 31, 2017.

“Ford has been making these iconic trucks for the last 100 years and this is the first time that we are offering this special deal for the Ford Ranger XLT to Malaysians looking for a smart, tough and efficient truck,” said Syed Ahmad Muzri Syed Faiz, Managing Director of SDAC.

The Ranger XLT, a popular pick-up truck in Malaysia, comes with smart technologies that enhance driving safety significantly. For example, its Electronic Stability Control (ESC)system with Traction Control helps stabilize the vehicle if understeering and oversteering occurs while cornering, preventing it from spinning off into a drain or worse, another vehicle. There’s also Adaptive Load Control, which takes into consideration the load on the vehicle, and helps ESC to work optimally.

The Ranger XLT is available with a choice of either the 2.2-litre Duratorq 4-cylinder TDCi turbodiesel engine with 160 ps/385 Nm or a 3.2-litre Duratorq 5-cylinder TDCi turbodiesel engine which generates 200 ps/470 Nm.

The 2.2-litre variant is available with 5 colour choices – Aluminium Metallic, Aurora Blue, Cool White, Metropolitan Grey and Black Mica – while the 3.2-litre XLT has 4 choices – Aluminium Metallic, Cool White, Metropolitan Grey and Black Mica.
