When Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) announced that they would sell the Beetle online, it was a first in the Malaysian car industry. Today, on 12-12-2018, all 12 units of the limited edition Beetle that was offered for sale on Lazada Malaysia have already been sold. In fact, they were all taken within the first 20 minutes after midnight, the first being grabbed just 26 seconds after midnight.

“We are delighted to have really pushed boundaries and made history with this collaboration – to be able to sell 12 cars within such a short period of time is amazing! This truly is a testament of how receptive Malaysians are when it comes to online purchasing,” said Erik Winter, Managing Director of VPCM.

VPCM had collaborated with Lazada to offer Malaysians the limited-edition Volkswagen Beetles for the Online Revolution Megasale from today until the 14th of December 2017.

Two limited edition designs were available, the ‘Herbie 53’ in Pure White and White Silver, and the ‘Hot Bug’ in Tornado Red. To secure their unit – which was priced at RM112,112 (18% off the recommended retail price), customers only had to purchase an exclusive Welcome Kit on Lazada at RM5,000 which also doubled as a pre-payment booking fee. The kit contained a limited edition Volkswagen Keychain and a Touch’NGo card with a pre-loaded value to RM100.

The version of the Beetle offered is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged TSI engine. The output of 105 ps/175 Nm goes to the front wheels through a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.

As added peace-of mind, the limited edition Beetles were also offered with 5-year manufacturer’s warranty and 5 years of free roadside assistance.

If you missed this chance to buy these Beetles, there are also units available at authorised dealers nationwide. They won‘t be priced at RM112,112 but it’s that time of the year when they may be willing to give you a good deal.
