Me too sometime confuse, too many models for 5K & 6K series.
my finding, the most important thing is a transmittal power of GMRS/FRS channels
1. 0.5 watt up to 3-miles clear channel range
2. 1.0 watt up to 5 miles, can reach 8 miles under optimal condition (i.e deserted area)
3. 2.0 watt up to 8 miles, can reach 12 miles under optimal cond.
The differents are additional features such as VOX (hands free devices), iVOX (hands free without additional devices), VibraCall,tones, facelit... mainly related to additional accessories.
T5500 have both 0.5 FRS and 1.0 watt GMRS/FRS channels, VOX only
T5530 with iVOX
During NAM trip, i'm using TT5500 as Lead Car2, the other one, I passed to back marker. So, there are more than 20 RIAs in between. So far quite OK. I can received voices from zero car to back marker during convoy in full formation (33 RIAs).

Drak, I also wanted the T5500 model but butt must have auto VOX, meaning can VOX without earplug. I wanted to use it to monitor baby's sleeping. IF he cried, like his father war cry, i can hear it 8 km away....Also can ask wife to buy this and that at Alamanda and I can stay at home. Wow.

Hmmm Jebat when to town today (4/09) to look for the Walkies. Then he called me and guess what? At the end of our converstaion we ended up the with 1 set each for ourselves. So I'll be picking up my set from Jebat later today.

Jebat and me bought the T5720 for dua ratus enang puluh riyal. Just picked up my set from Jebat about half an hour ago - now charging the batteries. Personally I guess 5 mile range is enough for our recreation purposes. This radio set has Vox capability but we have to buy the accessories separately (which we didnt at this point in time)
If I need longer range coverage than I might as well join brother 1515 and obtain an amateur radio licence - haaa itu baru dia, you'll get unlimited radio coverage. |

Murah nyer. .kat maner si Jebat tu beli. .sepasang ke sebijik je....nak pakai macam 1515 tu tak mampu kot...lagi pun untuk pakai konvoi je bukan nak contact nun jauh-jauh.

Teringin jugak nok beli satu pair (T5720), tapi tak dok plan nok gi KL lagi - kalau pi pung, mesti tak jumpa kedai nyer - selalu sesat. Kalau sapa2 yg ada kelapangan di KL and plan to come to PG/Utara, bolehlah tolong war2kan sebab kat sini mahal sangat and tak banyak pilihan (mungkin tak jumpa lagi kot)

Sorry...teman lambat masuk..maklumlah tgh nerai walkie talkie baru kat..water fall dgn anak-anak.Wookey...cakap lu...5Mile = 8Kilometer.
Mu kalu nok mintok tolong belikang jangang segang-segang..sebab kawe keje dekak jln raje chulan. Kalau naik bah baru sembilang poseng gi sembilan poseng balik..
Ala...kalau setakat HJZAWAHI,SEKAYU & ALL RIANS nok pesang sekali pong tak pe...janji massukkk...pitih.
