Cheras > Gombak toll =30km ( 30 mins. ) > Lancang =77km ( 135 mins. ) > Sg. Pahang =138km > Temerloh =248km ( 155 mins. ) > Kuantan toll =262km ( 255 mins. ) Petrol RM37 @ RM0.14-km stretch from Gombak toll was jammed as it was Saturday 21st Oct first day of long holiday Deeparaya mainly caused by slow drivers in old beat-up cars driving along the right lane of the Karak Highway ( these old men were like driving back to Kampungs and on a sightseeing journey ... at 60 km-hr )
SAVVY AMT with 4 passengers and fully loaded with luggage for a 5-day holiday trip drive along the East Coast
..............
Kuantan > Club Med =52km > Kuala Terengganu Jetty =284km ( 270 mins. ) Petrol RM32 @ RM 0.11-km
Overall same day journey from Cheras ( start time 1000 am ) and arrived KT ( 0730 pm ) ... distance 548 km and took 570 mins. ( include rest stops, petrol refill and lunch at Kuantan ) ( raining spells along the way )
................
Kuala Terengganu to Kota Bahru ( on Monday DAY 3 ) =166km ( 180 mins. ) Petrol RM17 @ RM 0.10-km
..................
Day 4 Tuesday 24th Oct. 2006 Kota Bahru > Gua Musang =207km ( 300 mins. ) > Cameron Highlands =320km ( 402 mins. ) Petrol RM40 @ RM0.125-km include breakfast stop ( Machang ) + lunch stop ( Gua Musang )
the stretch from Gua Musang to Cameron Highlands =113km ( 102 mins. ) beautiful majestic scenery along the mountain top expressway ( toll free )
...................
Day 5 Wednesday 25th Oct. Cameron Highlands Brinchang > Tapah toll =61km ( 134 mins. ) > Rawang town =178km ( 250 mins. ) > Cheras =237km ( 330 mins. ) late lunch at Rawang chose to exit at Rawang exit from Plus highway as the traffic build up nearer to K.L. was getting to be a snail's pace did not bother to stop at rest stops along highway as all were clogged with traffic ... would have been a long wait just to pee wee Petrol RM30.53 @ RM0.12-km ( Jam stretches most along highway )
................
Overall total distance travelled 21st Sat till 25th Wed was 1,286 km and petrol consumed RM 156 @ RM 0.12-km
...................
SAVVY AMT did very well coming down Cameron Highlands via the Tapah side ... took most corners and bends with sure-footed tom cat grip and did not need to brake much ( while majority of cars in front going down the hill were constantly applying their brakes ). Supreme confidence at the driver steering as car ( being manual ) held its ground very well indeed ... If you just release the gas pedal, the engine braking and down-gear shifting works smoothly ...

driving around Cheras & in K.L. jams did 314 km and petrol top up was RM 49.30 @ RM0.16-km would be the kinda stop-go-go fuel economy
this is the truth and nothing but the fairy god-mother's wisdom tooth ...

usually my savvy can go up to at least 380km (city driving) before the low warning fuel first come out on and off. when i refill during this period...i can only refill around RM43-RM46 worth of petrol before the fuel pump stop. but mine is manual not AMT (mile age around 15000KM) |

Sexy Susan : please remember fellow forummers ... SB's SAVVY AMT does many ( about 6 to 8 times ) short trips per day ( and each trip no more than 5 km one way ) as send to & fro baby hippos ... in Cheras hinterland ... the land of humps, bumps and potholes that pop up from nowhere also climb little rolling hilly areas ... so this kinda driving pattern is not the best for fuel economy juggling
Savvybaby : plus the car takes 4 at back ( little rascal hippos they are )

lol savvybaby...did u stop by and enjoy the beautiful view while on the way to kuantan?
How's the new highway simpang pulai - can beat grik jeli or not in terms of drving pleasure fulfilment.
Thingking of going the long way on the way back to my hometown K.trg next time hehe.
Surprise surprise I was in cameron highlands too durin raya from sat-tues...saw A LOT of savvy's there no wonder- was going back using the old road so didn't see ur car probably..
quote:
Melaka-KL PLUS KL-Tapah-CH normal roads
And I went up all all the way to the highest paved road in peninsular malaysia - gunung Brinchang in Brinchang town. And the path is very treacherous and narrow some are unpaved, only a 4WD is best suited for this kind of road condition .
Plus some travelling between Ringlet, tanah rata, Brinchang and Tringkap towns in CH.
For a total distance of 411 km, it only used 27 litres of petrol!! That gives about 15km/l or 0.124 sen per km. The FC reading is accurate as I fill the petrol till near overflow.
my mileage now 20k plus..just done my 20k service cost me only RM232!

Dear hypermount
the road atop the main range highlands stretching from Gua Musang to Tringkap / Brinchang ( Cameron Highlands ) is really a MUST TRAVEL stretch for all Malaysians to enjoy the majestic scenery on BOTH sides of the highway ... to the left and right as you cruise along atop the other mountains and valleys on either side ...misty and drizzling spells are a constant feature.

Dear hypermount
the last time SB went West to East ... from Penang via Grik ... and then to Terengganu ... was on a chartered bus with family members the view then was fantastic due to the surrounding lakes ... The Temenggor Lake the road was winding and not expressway though ... narrow since SB did not drive ... cannot comment on the driving pleasures on that stretch
however ... this time from Gua Musang > Pulai > Kampung Raja > Cameron Highlands ... the expressway was excellent and SB was truly amazed at how they built those bridges across the deep valleys ?
as SB did not stop at all along the mountain top stretch ... trying to make it to Camerons before nightfall and it was drizzling ... the quick glances to the left and right was sheer ecstacy
as for the first day's run from K.L. to Terengganu ... SB only stopped at Kuantan for lunch and then moved on to K.T. by 7.30 p.m. ( departed K.L. 1000 am ) it was jam along the Karak stretches on that 21st Oct Sat first day Deeparaya hols the jams were mainly due to slow coach drivers taking a leisurely morning "stroll" along the right overtaking lanes at 60 km-hr in their old jalopies ... ( beaten down Toyota Corolla and another was a Ford Laser sedan )

They got LIVE SEA TURTLES at the cherating turtle santuary near the club med! for every species, green turtle, hawksbill and olive ridley except for the leatherback only!
I didn't use East Coast Highway (LPT) tis tme..found the federal road is still in good condition. Why pay more for the total, journey time is not much different also.
Clocked near 2000km in less than 7 days with my savvy.
Melaka to K.Terengganu 488 km trunk roads with only RM50/26.04L of fuel
18.74km/L .. could be better if I didn't stuck in jams in major towns, bypassed kuantan, adhered to the speed limit... segamat highway is too straight, top out at 120.
K.TRG - KL - Batu Pahat , 920 km of trunk roads and city drive, top speed 110-120km/h refuel 3 times, RM50/26.04L-RM30/15.63km-RM30/15.63km
16.05km/l
cruised at 80-90 wit air con fully turn on.. |

Sexy Susan : dear hypermount ... Pulau Redang will blow out your mind ... sheer beauty ... magnificent unspoilt stretches of snorkelling ...
R2D2 : but SB madly scrambled for the speed-boat during snorkelling becoz someone shouted " jelly-fish ! " tried as SB could paddle ... the currents pulled SB farther away from the vessel !
C3Pio : SB was flat out drained of energy when aboard the boat finally and discovered in the end that those species of jellyfish were harmless ... the group started to lift them out of the water and throw them back ...
Dr Luv : Pulau Redang is a MUST for fellow Malaysians to partake of the oceanic delights ... the sandy beaches are like fine powder to the feet's touch ... no stones
Savvybaby : and the SAVVY is a pleasurable car for the driver to soak in the kilometers and kilometers of scenic tranquil majestic scenes along the East Coast roads ...

Now with apexi open pod...loud sound only came when naik bukit - like karak and cameron....but cool...other driver feel got better pickup and response also.
travelled 502km refilled RM53/27.6L.. 18.19 km/L .. air con fully blast, hot day, 3 person+luggage , top around 120km/h, apexi with homemade ram, R3 muffler.
conclude not difference in FC, slight difference only depends on outside variables. |

| used to drive 2.0 car. Drive savvy, always hit average 130-140 km/h whenever can, cause the fuel consumption is ignorable, compared to the 2.0. Wish they put bigger engine coz i think the car still can handle it. On 2nd thought, if put bigger engine cannot get this kind of FC. But with current engine still can go fast one. Only the the acceleration is bit sluggish. Hmmmm |

At 130-140kph, still very stable and probably more stable than some Japanese 1.6 - 1.8 car.
