For the first time ever, the independent EuroNCAP Institute in Brussels has announced a list of the safest cars of the year, based on the results of all its crash tests (33 cars) in 2009. Topping the list was the VW Golf Mk 6 which performed impressively in all categories: occupant protection of adults, protection of children, pedestrian protection and supporting safety and driver assistance systems.
