Nasim Sdn Bhd (NSB), franchise holders of the Peugeot marque for Malaysia, have added the new Peugeot 407 to their line-up and thanks to local assembly of this model (at Naza's own plant in Kedah), the price can be an attractive and in fact, is even lower than what was estimated prior to the recent launch. A source told MTM that, as of this weekend, there are some 250 customers waiting for their car already and deliveries will commence within a week.
The standard version is priced at RM125,888 (on the road) while a more luxurious version with leather upholstery and more equipment (including a factory-fitted GPS navigation system) retails for RM133,888. Five colour choices are available.
The new 407 has a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine which includes VVT (Variable Valve Timing) for more efficient operation, with improved output. The automatic transmission has also been revised in accordance with the new characteristics of the engine.

Other new features include new 17” sports wheels and a colour-coded exterior with chrome trimming. There are also brighter xenon lights with automatic activation, automatic wipers and electrically-controlled front seats. The laminated windscreen is also specially made and reduces heat transmission.
Since its international launch some years back, the 407 is said to have has set benchmarks in its segment, bringing a touch of style (with its distinctive design) into a segment which is mostly based on space and practicality. As for safety, the 407 is also among the top of its segment with a full 5-star EuroNCAP crash test rating. This is achieved with a total of 7 airbags which is also class-leading in its price and size segment in Malaysia.

“The new 407 assembled in Malaysia is of high quality and is of a similar standard to the other 407s manufactured in France,” assured Francois Poirier, Director, Asia Pacific and Africa, International Operations, Automobiles Peugeot. He added that Peugeot had already achieved worldwide sales of 50 million units recently and is committed to maintaining and developing the trust that customers have in the brand. For Malaysia, Mr Poirier said that many new models will be introduced soon and Peugeot will also be looking at NSB to assemble some of models for the Asian region.
