The inaugural Triton Experience that combines both on-road and off-road test drives was held in the Klang Valley in January and following the encouraging response, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) brought the all-terrain adventure event to Penang and Johor recently. To date, more than 1,000 Malaysians had the 'Triton Experience', according to a spokesperson for MMM.
Visitors to the Triton Experience had the opportunity to test drive the rally-bred pick-up on two courses with different terrain to show its capability in both city driving and along undulating paths and challenging tracks off the highway. The up/down slopes showed how easily the Triton can negotiate uneven ground as well demonstrated its strong engine braking. Also highlighted were the generous approach and departure angles, important on very rough terrain. There were also muddy and slippery tracks which tested the 4x4 system while the side-slope displayed the Triton’s sideway lateral stability and its low centre of gravity which keeps it stable even when tilted up to 30 degrees.
For those who wanted a taste of what it's like in the Dakar Rally, an annual event which has been dominated by Mitsubishi vehicles for a quarter of a century, a professional rally driver took them around at high speed. Here, the agility and strong engine performance of the Triton also became apparent and many were surprised that it is not specially tuned for the event.
New Triton owners who booked their Triton during the event received a 3-years/60,000 km Free Maintenance package, an exclusive Ralliart shirt and a Mitsubishi golf umbrella.
