Hicom-Chevrolet, the newly established joint-venture company between DRB-Hicom and General Motors Asia Pacific distributing and marketing Chevrolet vehicles in Malaysia, has plans to grow the dealer network in Malaysia as quickly as possible in order to reach 5,500 units a year and among the brand new outlets are three facilities operated by Cergazam Sdn Bhd.

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Permaju Bhd, Cergazam has invested RM20 million in the three outlets in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Penang, and Johor Bahru. Each of the outlets has been designed and appointed to complement the Chevrolet global brand image and all of them are ‘3S’, meaning customers can get sales, service and spare parts.

“We are proud to be associated with a global brand like Chevrolet and aim to deliver on its brand promise of quality and value at our 3S centres,” said Eddie Chai, Cergazam’s Executive Director, adding that the three fully-equipped outlets ‘represent our commitment to support Hicom-Chevrolet in building and strengthening the Chevrolet brand in Malaysia’.

At each of the 3S centres, customers can view Chevrolet models in spacious showrooms with amenities such as customer lounges equipped with wifi and TV. The service centres have been sized to meet the needs of the area covered and the flagship one in Petaling Jaya has as much as 21,000 sq feet with 12 service bays. Diagnostic equipment can be linked to the central GM database to obtain technical information and assistance as well as to expedite any warranty claims.

“As for spare parts,  we have made sure that we carry enough stock and our PJ store will have over RM2.5 million of spare parts. Furthermore, with direct access to the GM support network, Cergazam is assured of efficient, speedy and systematic delivery of spare parts,” Mr Chai said.

He is highly optimistic about the business prospects of Chevrolet in Malaysia and said that there will be three or four more models in the showrooms by the end of the year. Meanwhile, Cergazam has already sold some 100 units of the Captiva SUV, of which 80% are the turbodiesel version.
