Samsung USB3 portable HDD

Samsung has recently launched three new external hard disk drives (HDDs), two of which are portable drives. These new HDDs can be used without installing any software and run on USB power. Data transfer is claimed to be up to 5 gigabits per second and a 25GB full HD movie can be copied in just four minutes.
 

 

The two portable drives consist of the 2.5-inch M2 and C2 models while the M3 desktop storage station is 3.5-inch unit. All three are designed to use the much quicker USB 3 interface but there is still backward compatibility with earlier USB standards.

 

The M2 portable drive comes with wave patterned matte finish and hollow sides for a comfortable and secure grip. It is portable and slim and comes in a choice of four colours. The M2 has a capacity of up to 1 terabyte and includes components that are eco-friendly. It is also said to consume less power and operate quietly.

 

The more premium C2 portable drive features a transparent high-gloss cover and an in-depth crystallized pattern. This model is very user-friendly and comes with convenient back-up solution. It is also available with a capacity up to 1 terabyte and comes with two colour choices.

 

For those who don’t need to take their HDD around and want high-speed USB connectivity, the M3 desktop storage station would suit the purposes. This drive is slim and resembles M2 portable drive with rounded corners.

 

The M3 Station comes in 1, 1.5 and 2 terabytes densities and in two colours. It can also be directly connected to a TV without installing any software or any wires for viewing movies, photos or even listening to music.

 

The M2 Portable 3.0 is now in the Malaysian market with a 500GB capacity with a recommended price of RM199; for 1TB, it is priced at RM339. [Rufaidah]
