LG’S soon-to-be launched XNote P220 is an ultra-thin laptop that blurs the boundaries between laptop and netbook. With a screen bezel width of only 9.5 mm at the thickest spot and measuring 20.9 mm, it’s not just an ultrabook.
 

 

To top it all as thin as possible, LG just like its predecessor, uses a LED backlight. The new premium notebook with an enhanced Real Slim Bezel surrounds a 12.5-inch screen. It also includes an advanced IPS (in-plane switching) display that allows for a wider viewing angle, with no colour distortion from within a 178-degree viewing arc. This allows many users to watch the screen together without any loss in image quality.

 

"Notebook design has hit a crossroad where users want bigger screens but aren´t willing to sacrifice portability or keyboard comfort," said J.J. Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of LG Electronics PC Business Unit.

 

"Other 12-inch notebooks just haven't achieved such an effective balance between compact body and wide screen. Through its narrow bezel and wider, higher quality viewing angles, the LG P220 achieves new levels of notebook satisfaction, by offering widescreen viewing on a compact device without any sacrifices in performance and mobility."

 

The P220 has a 250GB or 320GB drive, 10/100 LAN Card, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, Card Reader, 1.3MP webcam and HDMI output. It comes with pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium as the operating system.

 

Power comes Intel Core i5 processor, with 4GB of ram and graphics crunching muscle will be provided by the Intel HD Graphics 3000 GPU that’s built into the processor. The clock speed is still unknown but there are provisions for using a 128GB solid-state drive (SSD) for faster read/write speeds.

 

The new notebook will be available in three colours: pearl white, pearl pink and blue pearl. Pricing and availability in Malaysia are not known yet. [Rufaidah]
