The most successful KLIMS

The 8th presentation of the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2010 (KLIMS’10) once again proved to be another record-breaker, recording the highest attendance since the first KLIMS was held in 1977. The show, which ran from December 3 to 12 saw a grand total of 321,958 visitors.

Datuk Aishah Ahmad, Chairman of the KLIMS’10 Organising Committee and President of the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), was delighted with the impressive turn-out, noting that some 28,000 people came on the opening day.

“Despite the absence of some brands, the event was well received. We are delighted that exhibitors seized the opportunity to debut their greatest and latest products on a larger platform. With the success of KLIMS’10, we hope that other brands will be eager to participate in the next show and enable us to further elevate this event,” she said at the KLIMS’10 Gala Night cum MAA 50th Anniversary Celebration.

During the dinner, it was announced that the winners of the winner of the Grand Prize for the KLIMS’10 Lucky Draw was Mohd Nor Zainal Abidin who received a new Toyota Prius hybrid car (sponsored by UMW Toyota Motor). The Grand Prize was most appropriate in the context of the green theme that the auto industry is pursuing today.

Two lucky visitors - Fadzlina Zubairi and So Mee Chen – won a Proton Saga each (sponsored by Proton) and during the motorshow, 10 Naza Blitz motorcycles were also won by fortunate visitors.

A lot of time and money was spent by some exhibitors to create an impressive booth and in recognition of their efforts, awards were given out. The KLIMS 2010 Best Booth Award went to Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd (shown above), with UMW Toyota Motor being judged runner-up, followed by Perodua. In the non-automobile category, Tint-Shop (M) Sdn Bhd, Ecotint (M) Sdn Bhd and Lec Auto Leather Marketing Sdn Bhd were the top three exhibitors that received awards.
