First winners of Shell V-Power 97 Contest

Shell Malaysia recently announced Norwajunizam Abdul Wahab and Mohd Shuha bin Abdul Karim as the first and second Shell Weekly Grand Prize Winners of RM30,000 in its Shell V-Power 97 Cash Contest. En Norwajunizam and En Mohd Shuha will also be amongst the 32 Malaysians who will compete in the Shell V-Power 97 Challenge to win the ultimate Grand Prize of a trip to the Abu Dhabi F1 Race.

En Norwajunizam, a 33-year old businessman, was pleasantly surprised to learn of his win. “I was astounded when informed of the good news. Shell is no stranger to rewarding its customers but the opportunity to win an all expense paid trip to Abu Dhabi F1 Race was the extra incentive for me to try my luck. I am determined to win the contest as I know the trip will be an invaluable experience,” said En Norwajunizam. “I was pleasantly surprised to learn that in addition to winning RM30,000, I will also be receiving a celebration party for my friends and family.”

As a high school history teacher, En Mohd Shuha believes in motivating his students to achieve their highest potential. “I can’t emphasize enough how important education is. I am constantly looking for ways to encourage my students to read and learn more about our history however money can be a challenge for many of them. Thanks to Shell, I intend to spend a portion of my winnings on my students, buying them additional resource materials, particularly the ones who will be facing major examinations this year,” said the 46-year old teacher.

As the first and second Weekly Grand Prize Winners, En Norwajunizam and En Mohd Shuha were given the ‘red carpet’ treatment as they were chauffeured to their ‘buka puasa’ at Laserlight Shell station, Kelana Jaya, Selangor, with a convoy of superbikes. The ‘buka puasa’ celebration today was attended by close family and friends as well as some 60 Shell dealers from around the Klang Valley.

This time round, lucky motorists have the opportunity to win an all-expense paid trip to Abu Dhabi in conjunction with the F1 Race in November 2010, on top of winning weekly cash prizes. Through the Shell V-Power 97 Cash Contest, we hope that more people will be encouraged to experience for themselves the benefits of Shell V-Power 97, the result of Shell’s strong technical partnership with Scuderia Ferrari for over 60 years.” said Leslie Ng, Retail National Sales Manager, Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd.

“This week, Shell Malaysia has rewarded another 304 Malaysian motorists with cash prizes, simply for spending a minimum of RM30 on any Shell fuels at Shell stations. By the end of September, Shell would have rewarded a total of 2,432 motorists,” Ng added.

Entering the Shell V-Power 97 Cash Contest is simple. Customers need to fill up a form, attach the proof of purchase receipt and drop it into contest drop boxes located at Shell stations. Customers who pump a minimum of RM30 of Shell V-Power 97 fuel will receive double the chance of winning.

The prizing tiers are as follows: 

Upon the completion of 8 weeks, all 32 first and second placed weekly prize winners will be called on for an elimination round in which their skills and knowledge will be put to the test in an intensive series of questions and answers session. From there, only 6 of the highest scorers will make it to the final challenge at the Sepang International F1 Circuit. The Final Challenge will be an obstacle course. Podium finishers will win the ultimate Grand Prize to Abu Dhabi to witness the F1 Race.
