Peugeot 308 CC to be launched next week

Posted on December 30, 2010 03:17 AM
Nasim Sdn Bhd will start the new year with the launch of the new 308 CC on Thursday, January 6. The 2-door coupe-cabriolet will be the first of three new models the company intends to launch during 2011. The first showing of the new 308 CC will be at a Nasim roadshow at the Bangsar Shopping Centre in Kuala Lumpur (January 7  -  9) and the price is expected to be around RM200,000.

“Our previous coupe cabriolet, the 207 CC, was the market leader in the segment and we believe the new 308 CC will be just as popular in this niche market,” said SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, Nasim’s CEO and also Joint Group Executive Chairman of Naza. He added that Peugeot was the first carmaker to introduce the coupe-cabriolet with the 401 in the 1930s and with the new 308 CC further reinforces Peugeot’s position as a market leader in this segment.

The 308 CC is said to embody Peugeot’s philosophy of ‘Motion and Emotion’ with a strong emphasis on design, technology and places emotion at the heart of the motoring experience. Highlights on the exterior include xenon headlamps, LED rear lights, 18-inch alloy wheels and a twin rear diffuser design.

The 2+2 cabin features a premium leather interior designed in the tradition of prestige cabriolets, a retractable high-resolution 7-inch screen, JBL Hi-Fi system, dual zone air-conditioning and electrically-operated front seats with memory functionality for the driver’s seat.

The 2-piece roof retracts at the touch of a button and within 20 seconds, the car transforms from a coupe to a topless cabriolet. The roof panels neatly fold into the boot area out of sight, allowing the clean profile of the car to be maintained.

High levels of safety are provided with the inclusion of six airbags as well as well as the world’s first side head airbags which are housed in the seat and deployed laterally from the head restraint.

The 308 CC imported to Malaysia will have the same engine as the 308 Turbo which is a 1.6-litre unit with a twin-scroll high pressure turbocharger and direct petrol injection engine. It produces 156 bhp/240 Nm of torque which goes to the front wheels via a 6-speed tiptronic automatic transmission with sports mode.
