Besides route navigation functions using GPS, TCAT’s Multimedia Navigator also has features such as a music player, movie player and optional AUX-in connection. The 7-inch WVGA (800x 480) LCD touchscreen displays in true colour (16.7 million colours) to provide high quality imagery and movies.
Map coverage is available for Peninsula and East Malaysia as well as Singapore, with simple and user-friendly options to locate destinations. There are also various search options and thousands of Points of Interest (POIs) and for the Singapore map, the search can also be done by postal codes. Language choices can be set in Malay, English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Thai, Japanese and Korean.
For the multimedia system, music and video files can be taken from a SD card and USB drive. There’s a choice of built-in speakers or FM transmitter function and the sound reproduction comes through the original speakers in the vehicle.
Also included is a Rear View Monitor which uses a small camera to show the area behind the vehicle, making reversing to park easier and safer. It automatically activates when reverse gear is engaged and has compensation for night vision. The wide viewing angle is complemented by guidelines on-screen which help the driver to estimate distances from objects.
