Power, agility and emotion were all evident in this year’s final round of the Ford Lanun Darat 4x4 Driving Clinic series. The 4x4 driving course, sponsored by Ford Malaysia and held in Kuching earlier this month, was attended by 27 participants.
Held at location 16 kms south of Kuching city, the Ford owners were taught steep slope driving, side slope driving, and skid control testing. The skills learnt prepared them for the challenges when they drive into rough terrain. At the same time, during the training, they also get to fully understand their vehicles much better and appreciate Ford’s technology which makes them ‘Ford Built Tough’.
“It was exhilarating to learn the capabilities of my vehicle. I never knew that my Ranger could be driven in such a manner. This has certainly encouraged my interest for a more adventurous family holiday,” said Mohd Fitri, one of the participants.
The 1-day driving clinic specially for owners of Ford’s 4x4 models such as the Ranger and Everest, was first run in Sepang in June this year and has since been held in several towns in Peninsular Malaysia. The event aims to help Ford 4x4 owners learn the skills of off-road driving while also allowing “seasoned off-roaders” to practice in a safe and controlled environment.
“The Ford Lanun Darat Off-Road Driving Clinics are something that we are proud of as they allow us to highlight the capabilities of Ford’s vehicles under tough driving conditions. With this knowledge, owners can push their vehicles to the limit while retaining total control and also doing so safely,” said Queenie Tham, Marketing Manager of Ford Malaysia.
“Ford Lanun Darat has been a pride of Ford Malaysia and many of our customers for the past 9 years. In fact, many customers have become ‘off-road gurus’ now and started their own smaller groups. With some tougher road conditions and higher interest in quality of life and adventures, Ford Malaysia plans a rebirth of the Lanun Darat in the coming year to cater to new Ford owners to spread the spirit of adventure, excitement, skills and pride in their vehicles ,” added Ms Tham.
