Devilish Ducati

Ducati making a cruiser sounds as strange as Ferrari making a station wagon. However the Italian superbike maker has finally revealed details of their latest creation, the appropriately named Diavel (a Bolognese expletive for devil).

The Diavel is Ducati's weapon to take on the cruiser-genre. Although it resembles a pumped up street bike rather than the stretched, lazy looking American cruiser, the dominating feature of the Diavel has to be its 240mm wide rear tyres, which is said to have inspired its name.

With a 1,196cc Testastretta v-twin engine producing 160hp at 9,500rpm and 128Nm of torque at 8,000rpm, the Diavel definitely has the power to live up to its name especially with a dry weight of 210kg.

However Ducati also has the Diavel Carbon version, which uses carbon fibre body parts and forged Marchesini wheels to drop the weight by another 3kg.

Fitting for a Ducati, the Diavel sports several tasty styling cues such as its rear number plate holder, which wraps around the rear tyre from the left side, and like-like location of the LCD instrument pods on the tank.

More details will be available after the Diavel is unveiled at the upcoming EICMA international bicycle and motorcycle exhibition in Milan, which has just started and will be running till November 7th.
