4th SEA Property Phuket Multihull Championship

The 4^th SEA Property Phuket Multihull Championship will be run next month from July 15 - 17 2011 with the organizing authority being the Ao Chalong Yacht Club (ACYC) under the auspices of the Yacht Racing Authority of Thailand. Regarded as the biggest "multihull-only" event in the Asia-Pacific region, this event had 20 entries in 2010 and is expected to be ideal for a run-up to the Six Senses Phuket Raceweek.

25 – 30 yachts are expected to be on the start line daily and two new classes have been introduced while there will be the national championship competition for the Corsair Cup.

The event, sponsored by SEA Property, promises 3 days of racing with 4 party evenings. It is open to all multihulls (catamarans and trimarans) which will be separated into the following classes (subject to entries received):

Class 1: Racing Multihulls with valid OMR ratings.

Class 2: Firefly 850 Sports One Design.

Class 3: Cruising Multihulls without OMR ratings (an arbitrary handicap will be given by the racing committee)

Class 4: Classic Multihulls (an arbitrary will be given by the racing committee)

The entry fee is 2,500 baht, which includes participation of the skipper. An additional crew fee of 1,000 baht is payable at the time of registration for each participating crew member. There will also be a fee of 1,000 baht per person payable by supporters participating in any of the official functions of the Regatta. Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance to a minimum cover of 20 million baht (or equivalent) for the duration of the event.

For all classes, 5 races are scheduled. Two races shall be completed to constitute a series. A trophy will be awarded to the winning yacht in each class. Second and third place prizes will also be awarded in each class.
