Suzuki has for a long time now been kept afloat by its best selling Swift. Not content with having to rely on a sole volume-seller, its official distributor, Suzuki Malaysia Automobile has launched a sub-Swift model called the Alto that it hopes will appeal to the fun-loving youth out there.
The new model represents Suzuki’s new approach to building small cars, focusing on style, comfort, practicality and performance to attract a younger audience. As compact as it is, it’s capable of carrying four adults in relative comfort, as well as their luggage. The automatic variant also comes standard with fold-down rear seats, further aiding its practicality.
“We have noticed a potential growth for the non-national brands in the sub compact model category as there is a surge of interest by consumers for a distinctive yet convenient urban drive. Consumers are also placing an emphasis on products that are eco-friendly and economical as criteria for purchase. We are certain that the Alto will emerge as an additional choice and a breath of fresh air to the Malaysian consumers”, said Dato’ Sri Haji Mohd Khamil Jamil, Chairman of Suzuki Malaysia Automobile.
Available with five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmissions, the 1.0-litre, three cylinder engine used throughout the range offers a maximum output of 66bhp and 90Nm. Designed for low friction and paired with the aerodynamic bodyshape, the Alto promises minimal emissions level and fuel consumption figures.
The Suzuki Alto is now available in three grades - GA (M) at RM44,888, GLX (A) RM49,999, and GXS (A) RM54,888, with six eye-catching vibrant colours to choose from.
